Old Line Life Insurance Company of AmericaIf you’re looking for information about your current in force policy, you have to contact American General customer service at: 800-231-3655.

Old Line Life Insurance has been around since the early 1900’s.  In March of 2003 they  merged with American General.

We’ve run into several consumers lately who have term life insurance policies with Old Line Life Insurance that are expiring.  Every one of these consumers had no idea who their agent was or who to contact.  In fact, one of our clients tried to call American General and explain their situation to a customer service agent who had no idea who Old Line Insurance was.  You NEVER want to talk to a call center customer service agent about your life insurance options (but that’s a whole other story).

Life insurance is one of the most important purchases that you’ll ever make for the future security of your family. It’s one of the only ways that you can ensure that your family will have the money that they need, regardless of what happens to you. When you’re looking to get a new plan, you could run into a lot of problems, and it can be a frustrating process. This article is going to explore the different options and the best ways to get a quality insurance plan at an affordable price.

Here’s what you should do if you want options for your Old Line Life Insurance policy

1. Contact Rootfin so we can review your policy over the phone.

2. Look at conversion options.  If it makes sense, we’ll have you sign an agent of record letter which will allow us access to your policy information so we can give you ALL the options your policy qualifies for.

3. Review the options American General will offer compared to the options on the open market.

These Old Line Life Insurance policies ARE convertible to a permanent product at the same health class you initially obtained with no evidence of insurability
.  This is an especially attractive option for those whose health has declined since they initially purchased their Old Line Life Insurance policy.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have an Old Line Life Insurance policy and want to know your options.

Working With An Independent Insurance Agent

We know that finding the perfect life insurance policy can be difficult. There are several different types of plans that you can choose from and thousands of different companies on the market. If your Old Line Life Insurance policy has expired, or you’re just looking to get a more affordable plan, one of the best ways to do that is by working with one of our independent insurance agents.

Unlike traditional insurance agents, our independent brokers work with dozens of highly rated companies across the nation. Because we work with so many companies, we can bring all of the best insurance rates directly to you. It’s our mission to ensure that you’re getting the best policy to meet your needs. Working with one of our agents can save you both time and money on your life insurance coverage.

Our independent agents have years of experience working with all types of clients in different situations. We’ve dealt with applicants that have an expiring policy from a company that has gone bankrupt, and we have clients that are paying hundreds of extra dollars for their plan. We know that getting life insurance can be tricky, but that’s why we are here to help.

Getting Cheaper Life Insurance Coverage

When you’re looking to get a new life insurance policy because of an expiring Old Line plan, there are several ways that you can trim down your insurance premiums. Making a few lifestyle changes could save you hundreds of dollars on your life insurance plan, which means more money in your pockets.

The first thing that you should do if you want to save money is quit smoking. It’s one of the most common new year’s resolutions, but very few people follow through on that resolution. If you’re looking for extra motivation, consider the fact that smokers are going to pay twice as much for life insurance versus what a non-smoker is going to pay for the same sized plan. Cutting out those cigarettes could save you thousands of dollars on your life insurance protection.

The next thing that you should consider doing is improving your overall health. When you’re reapplying for coverage, the insurance company is going to require that you take a medical exam, unless you have chosen to purchase a no medical exam required life insurance policy, which will come with a higher premium rate, the results of the exam are going to play a huge role in how much you pay every month. If you want to get lower premiums you’ll need to get better results. Better results translate into much lower premiums.

The two best ways to get better medical exam results are to stick to a healthy diet and start getting regular exercise. Both of these are going to help you lose weight, lower your blood pressure, and reduce your chances of being diagnosed with health complications. If you’re in the “overweight” category, you could pay 50% more than an applicant that is in a healthy weight range. If you want to save money on your life insurance, it’s time to lace up those running shoes and hit the gym.

Every insurance company is different, and all of them are going to view your application through different medical underwriting and rating system, which means that you could get drastically different rates depending on which company that you get the quote from. It’s important to compare dozens of rates before you decide which one is best for you, and our agents can help you do that in a matter of minutes.

We know that nobody wants to think about his or her death, but it’s important that you plan for the inevitable. Not having life insurance is one of the worst mistakes that you could make for your loved ones. If something tragic were to happen to you, they would be left with a mountain of debt and other final expenses. Losing a loved one is never going to be easy, but being stranded with thousands of dollars of debt is going to make the situation that much worse.

You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, which means you shouldn’t wait any longer to get quality life insurance protection for your family. If you have any questions about Old Line life insurance or about getting quality insurance, please contact one of our agents today. We would be happy to answer those questions and connect you with the best plan to meet your needs.

I just received a letter informing me that premium will triple and I did not know that AIG had absorbed Old Line Life. I am interested to find how ” Old Line Life Insurance policies ARE convertible to a permanent product at the same health class you initially obtained”.

I’ve e-mailed all of you.

I cannot help make beneficiary changes or cash out your policy. You need to speak directly with American General customer service to do that. (800) 231-3655

If the customer service rep hasn’t heard of “Old Line Life Insurance”, let them know American General acquired them. If they still can’t find your policy, ask to speak with a manager who can help you. Your policy IS there.

For those that want to know their conversion options, please call me to discuss. 888-430-7668 x101. Jeff Root

Hi Jeff,

Wonder if you could help me. My grandmother passed a few years ago and have recently found an old life insurance policy through The Old Line LIfe that has a notation by my grama that says “this has changed to variable life insurance.” I am not sure if she would have ever cashed it out or if it is still in current. Date of issue was 2/22/94 and maturity date is listed as 2/22/02. Not sure where to go with this? Can you advise me on what I should do with this. Thank You, Lori Krall
