Our Mercury Car Insurance Review
Mercury is known as the Mercury General Corporation.
Currently, Mercury offers several different lines of insurance to consumers, including the following:
- Auto Insurance
- Homeowners Insurance
- Renters Insurance
- Business Insurance
Although Mercury offers these additional lines of insurance to consumers, the primary focus for Mercury is on auto and homeowners’ insurance.
Mercury may not be one of the best car insurance companies you can choose in the United States, but they still can still be a viable option to consider depending on your unique needs and circumstances.
Mercury Car Insurance History and Background
Mercury General Corporation was founded back in 1961 and is currently headquartered in Los Angeles California.

In 1989, Mercury expanded and opened new offices in Georgia and Illinois.
Mercury continued to expand into Florida, New York, and Virginia and was recently rated as one of the top 100 most trustworthy companies in the country by Forbes.

Today, AIS has become Mercury’s Independent Agent force marketing and selling homeowners and car insurance products.

If you have a squeaky-clean driving record, it’s not that Mercury car insurance is necessarily a bad choice, but other competitively priced options exist.
On the flip side, many of those companies who offer great rates for good drivers do not provide the same competitive rates for poor drivers.
If you fall into this category and live in a state where Mercury is currently being offered, it’s certainly worth the time to at least compare a quote with them and see how they stack up against the other options in the marketplace.

Final Thoughts on Mercury Car Insurance Company
When comparing car insurance options, it’s always imperative to run quotes with multiple car insurance providers.
Car insurance is always tailored towards the specific individual purchasing coverage, and without running rates based on your information, you may be getting false numbers or example rates since the rates are not being generated based on your specific vehicle and background such as driving and credit history.
Mercury Insurance Group is a company that’s worth considering purchasing coverage with.
There is no doubt about that.
However, be sure to consider all the other options in the marketplace.
