Additionally, we know it’s a common trend only to want to skim a post for the information you need.
With that being the case, we wanted to provide a quick snapshot of Infinity Insurance Company.
Here are those details.
Infinity Insurance Company is a bit different compared to many of the other auto insurance companies currently offering products to consumers.
First off, they primarily market their car insurance products to Hispanic consumers.
Additionally, compared to other insurance companies, they don’t do much advertising or show much of a face and public information on their website.
However, Infinity does have a unique characteristic.
They have their website and mobile app available in Spanish.
Currently, Infinity Insurance offers the following lines of insurance.
- Classic Cars
- Mobile Home
Infinity is an excellent company to run rates with if you are a high-risk driver.
Compared to other car insurance companies, Infinity does have a high number of complaints and not the best reputation compared to other big names in the industry.
Either way, we do recommend running rates and finding out what pricing you may ultimately be looking at.
That was the brief way to explain and breakdown Infinity Insurance Company.
If, however, you have a few moments to spare and need further details on the company, we recommend scrolling directly below to read our full review.
Here is what you need to know.
Our Infinity Car Insurance Review
Infinity Property and Casualty Corporation is currently headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.
Initially, Infinity was considered a National insurance provider until recently in 2018 when it was acquired by Kemper Insurance Company.
Infinity, before the acquisition, was considered a nonstandard insurance company offering insurance products primarily to Hispanic markets through the workforce of over 12,500 independent agents.
A nonstandard insurance company simply means that high-risk drivers have a much better chance of obtaining coverage compared to other options in the market and potentially at better rates.
This can be due to issues such as poor driving records, DUI’s, or even due to a drivers age or credit history.
Infinity Car Insurance History
Infinity is one of the newer car insurance companies we have had the pleasure of reviewing originally being founded in 2002.
American Financial Group originally transferred its common stock for Infinity Insurance companies in addition to several other insurance companies.
In 2003, Infinity went public and was listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
Currently, if you visit Infinity’s website, you will notice how they boast about being one of the largest non-standard insurance companies in the country.
While this may be true, car insurance companies such as Infinity will always battle with competition powerhouses such as the names, we all know and trust like the following:
Financial Strength of Infinity
While Infinity may not be as large or some of the best insurance providers in your area, they still back a strong financial strength rating.
According to A.M. Best, Infinity currently is being provided an “A” rating which would be considered excellent.
Infinity does also continue to grow and emerge into new markets.
BBB Ratings and Complaints
Complaints are one area of concern for Infinity.
Compared to other insurance companies, Infinity tends to yield far more complaints and has a much lower overall customer satisfaction ranking compared to the competition.
Currently, according to the BBB, Infinity is being provided a B+ rating from the BBB which is lower than we typically see compared to other car insurance companies.
Additionally, Infinity auto-insurance is also yielding a much more significant amount of complaints compared to other car insurance companies relative in size.
While you don’t necessarily need to make this your only consideration when comparing car insurance, it should undoubtedly be an area of concern before making a final decision.
Coverages Offered by Infinity Insurance Company
Basic coverages for car insurance offered by auto-insurance providers don’t differ all that much most of the time.
With Infinity, here is a look at the basic car insurance options you will have available to you.
- Liability Coverage
- Comprehensive Auto Coverage
- Collision Coverage
- Uninsured Motorist
- Medical Payments
However, what car insurance companies often do to stand out is offer more enhanced and complete coverage options that can be added to your policy for an additional cost.
With Infinity, these additional coverage choices are known as “My Choice Coverage.”
They are currently only available in Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas.
You have 3 total levels of coverage you can select.
Opting for these additional coverages in addition to your basic coverages will cost you roughly 3% more on your annual premiums.
Each package includes additional perks, but each package also will change your premiums.
Coverage Options #1- Economy
With this package, your coverage extends to the primary driver and the spouse.
It will only cover the insureds vehicles listed and covers all cost related to repairs from an accident in addition to liability and physical damages covered at 100%
Coverage Options #2- Standard
This is the next level up.
With this coverage, your car insurance coverage extends to your spouse, all relatives, and non-resident drivers.
Additionally, this coverage provides umbrella coverage over other rental property and vehicles.
Everything in package 1 is included in package 2 for repairs, but The Standard package also covers the rental cost.
To make this easier to understand, consider package 1 and 2 the same except package 2 covers nearly every driver possible and adds rental car coverage.
Coverage Option #3- Deluxe
This is the highest level of coverage you can opt to purchase with Infinity.
The only difference is that now every driver is covered even if non-related if the primary insured has given permission to said person.
Personally, at Rootfin, we find this coverage relatively pointless unless you are frequently lending your vehicle to friends, family, and everyone else you know.
It’s not all that common to have a long list of drivers all operating one vehicle.
Especially when said drivers fall outside of family or other relatives.
Cost of Infinity Car Insurance
To our surprise, Infinity is a relatively competitive company when it comes to Auto-insurance rates for coverage.
They are not the cheapest but based on annual premiums, they are comparable to the following car insurance providers if you are a driver under the age of 45.
- Nationwide Insurance Company
- Mercury Insurance Company
- Western General Insurance Company
While Infinity can undoubtedly compete with a few companies as illustrated above, they are even more so worth considering if you are a high-risk driver.
This is where Infinity is known to be even more competitive pricing.
This is much like the same business model you see with companies such as The General.
Some car insurance providers have the niche markets they prefer to serve.
Nonetheless, car insurance cost and premiums is never black and white.
It’s always going to be based on specific criteria such as driving history, credit history, and even the vehicle insured.
Therefore, we always recommend comparing rates with a half dozen companies in your local area before pulling the trigger and picking your next car insurance provider.
Discounts with Infinity Insurance Company
Most car insurance companies prefer to offer discounts to consumers to remain competitive.
With Infinity, here are the primary discounts you can inquire about your eligibility for:
EFT Discount- Applied if you elect to have your coverage directly pulled from your bank account.
Homeowners Bundle- Applies to individuals that also purchase homeowner’s insurance with Infinity
Mobile Homeowners Discount- Applies when you bundle mobile home insurance with car insurance.
Multi-Car Discount- Applied if you insure more than 1 vehicle with Infinity
Paid in Full- Applied if you pay your entire first year’s premiums.
Switch Discount- Applied if you leave one company to switch to Infinity car insurance
Overall, we have found that specialty car insurance lacks a good lineup of discounts.
More specifically, companies that focus on high-risk drivers tend to offer a less robust lineup of potential savings.
If this is something important to you, we highly recommend considering other major car insurance providers.
Who Should Consider Infinity for Car Insurance?
From our point of view, we highly recommend high-risk drivers where Infinity Car Insurance is available to consider running rates with them.
This is typically the market that makes the most sense.
However, even if you do fall into this group, we also highly recommend comparing rates with several car insurance companies to ensure you are getting the best possible price for your coverage.
Rideshare Coverage Availability with Infinity
Currently, rideshare coverage is not something Infinity is offering to consumers.
While this is a growing market and need in the industry, it’s not something we expect to see from Infinity anytime soon.
Primarily because Infinity is already considered a niche car insurance company with limited availability.
If you are someone needing this coverage, we recommend looking at other options for coverage such as the following:
- State Farm Insurance Company
- Geico Insurance Company
- Erie Insurance Company
Pros of Working with Infinity
All car insurance companies have some unique advantages.
With Infinity, we believe these few items to be their top strengths.
- Good for High-Risk Drivers and SR-22 Coverage
- High Financial Strength Ratings
- Great for Families Who Share 1 Vehicle
Cons of Choosing Infinity Insurance Co.
Here is what we believe to be the significant downfalls of working with Infinity.
- Limited Availability
- Limited Discounts Available
- Non-Competitive Rates for Safe Drivers
Final Thoughts on Infinity Insurance Company
It doesn’t matter which car insurance company you are considering.
Your best plan of action to compare rates with as many car insurance companies as possible.
This ultimately ensures you are getting the best pricing and coverage for your money.
Best of Luck Choosing Your New Car Insurance Provider.
